What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise the browser on a later visit. Some are needed for a site to work; others are used to measure visits or to show advertising.
What this site uses while you read
Reading these pages and sending the enquiry form do not set any cookies. There are no analytics tools, no advertising pixels, no social media buttons and no embedded videos on the site. The fonts are served from our own website, so your browser does not contact an outside font service either.
What the basket uses
A machine only stays in the basket if the browser holds on to a note saying so. WooCommerce, the software running the shop, writes three such notes the moment you add something, and none of them before that:

A shop cannot run without these, so the law does not require a banner for them: drop them and the basket empties every time you turn a page. They hold no advertising identifier, nothing outside this site can read them, and shutting the browser clears the first two.
When one of us logs in
The website runs on WordPress. If a member of our staff logs in to manage it, WordPress sets the cookies it needs for that login. Those only exist in the browser of the person logging in and play no part in an ordinary visit.
If this changes
If we ever add a tool that uses cookies that are not strictly necessary, such as visitor statistics, we will ask for your consent before any such cookie is set, and this page will list each one with its purpose and lifetime.
Controlling cookies yourself
Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies, usually under its privacy or security settings. Block the lot and the basket will not hold a thing, but the rest of the site reads perfectly well without them.
